Q How much heat will a patio heater produce?
A. The commercial outdoor patio heaters produce up to 45,000BTU/h of power, the size
of a small central heating boiler. Our burners are finely balanced between optimum useable heat versus running costs. Anything larger guzzles up fuel with little or no extra benefit.
Q. How much gas will a patio heater use?
A. All our models have pilot control
so you decide how high or low you want the heat. At full power a patio heater will burn just under 1kg of fuel per hour. You'll find that the best way to use a patio heater is to warm the area up and then reduce the heat control to find your comfort zone. Under normal use a cylinder will last 3-6 weeks depending on the weather.
Q. Are all patio heaters the same?
A. Just like TV’s/Stereo’s there are high end specifications and low budget models with vast differences in quality, the cheap budget models may look very similar from a distance but will not perform the same. Many budget patio heaters cut costs by fitting chrome or tin plated burners to stainless steel patio heaters, see stainless steel page.
All our domestic and commercial patio heaters are fitted with stainless steel burners and shipped with our triple safety features.
Q. Do you supply free covers, wheels and regulators?
A. All our patio heaters are shipped with a starter cover, wheels, regulator and hose. We prefer not to call components as "free", they are an integral part of the patio heater and should be included.
Q. What is a commercial patio heater?
A. BFX760's and BFX770's patio heater models are the ones you’ll see in pubs, clubs and restaurants. They are more robust, manufactured with higher grade components and engineered to take the heavy duty of commercial life - for more information visit What makes commercial grade?
Q. How easy are patio heaters to use?
A. Since 2006 all BFX models have been fitted with the latest quick fire controls, just press the push button ignition wait 30 seconds and your patio heater will be ready
to use. The pilot control can set the heat output.
Q. I don’t know anything about gas, how do I get
gas?
A. We can supply the gas for your patio heater direct to your door via the gas company, to order visit Gas Supply. Pricing is
the same with no delivery charge. If you wish to get gas yourself
we recommend propane for all models using an 11kg or 13kg cylinder and with a clip-on fitting. Our patio heaters are supplied with BS3016 propane regulator and hose.
Q. Can I leave my patio heater outside all the time?
A. In the spring, summer and autumn it’s no problem. For winter it’s
best to move your outdoor patio heater under cover and bring it out when it’s to be used. Stainless
steel is more durable than a powder coated model for more info see:
why is a stainless steel patio heater "stainless"?
We recommend
a full length Cover with the powder coated models. Please note the reflector
on models BFX760/770 are fitted with 3 wing nuts (BFX755 has 4 wing nuts) to allow easy removal and prevent storm damage.
Q. What happens if it’s accidentally knocked
over?
A. Our patio heaters are fitted with "belt & braces" triple safety
devices, one is an auto tilt switch designed to shut the gas supply off at a 30° angle. Should you need to replace a patio heater part our genuine spare parts department holds spares
for models up to 5 years old. If a repair is needed please see patio heater repair service.
Q. Why buy from you?
A. We only supply patio heaters from our production, direct supply offers factory terms on high specification quality patio heaters. If we run low between production runs we never substitute with cheap and cheerful patio heaters from traders. As one of the leading patio heater suppliers to the commercial sector our company mantra is quality, quality and quality.
Q. How safe is shopping on the web?
A. We use either WorldPay, a recognised leader in encrypted codes for instant
payment. Or we can accept payment via the phone or you can contact us by e-mail
and we will advise on the safest way to send your details. The 3rd alternative
is to send a cheque made payable to Urban Industry Limited making sure it’s
